A CONVICTED RAPIST who breached his probation and then failed to show up for a hearing at Belfast Crown Court ten days ago has been arrested in Dublin.

Edward Connors had not been seen since he failed to show up at the court in Northern Ireland on Monday, 16 July.

He was convicted and imprisoned for twice raping an American tourist in a forest in west Belfast in 2008.

He was sentenced to eight years in jail and was released in March having served four years of his sentence. He had been due in court in Belfast last week after breaching the terms of his probation but failed to show up.

Police in the North, who were being assisted by Gardaí, believed that Connors may have been in the Dublin area and gardaí have now confirmed that a man was arrested at around 10 pm last night.

It is believed that Connors was arrested in the Ballyfermot area of south Dublin.

He is due to appear before a court in Dublin today.
