John Kelly will contest the upcoming general election in Roscommon South-Leitrim as a member of the Labour Party. Kelly was first elected to Roscommon County Council in 2004 as an independent and was re-elected to the body in June 2009. His only previous general election campaign was in 2007 when he gained almost 10 per cent of the vote in Roscommon-South Leitrim. He currently works as a Community Welfare Officer for the Ballaghaderreen area.
Policies
- Health- retention of services at Roscommon County Hospital, home help carers and medical cards for old people
- Jobs- we need new thinking to create jobs and to keep the ones we have
- Turf cutting is a huge issue in this area. The government have not done enough to preserve the turf cutting for local people.
