PARTING SHOT

Over 2,000 years ago the city of Pompeii was levelled after Mount Vesuvius erupted and covered it in ash and lava.

Archaeologists excavating the well-preserved ruin made an interesting discovery this week, with the skeleton of a person that appears to have survived the initial eruption but ended up being crushed by a giant stone.
