RSA urges football fans to "arrive alive"

With over 80,000 people set to descend on Croke Park, the RSA wants fans to arrive alive.

FANS FROM DUBLIN, Mayo and Tyrone heading to tomorrow’s All-Ireland Football Finals have been urged to drive safely.

The chief executive of the Road Safety Authority Noel Brett said that with 82,000 fans descending on Croke Park for the minor and senior games, it was imperative that motorists took their time both ways.

“We want everyone to enjoy the day and don’t want to see the trip to Croke Park to turn into a tragedy for any family or community.

Our message is simple –  plan your journey in advance, allow plenty of time for your journey, drive at an appropriate seed for the traffic and weather conditions, never ever take drugs or drink and drive or travel in a car driven by someone who has consumed alcohol or drugs.

Brett added that the wearing of seat belts was of particular concern this year.

Motorists who do encounter dangerous driving are encourage to call the Garda Traffic-Watch line on 1890 205 805.

Gardaí have a traffic management strategy in place around the stadium, which can be read here.
