A true legend. He will be missed by all who knew him. Heart felt condolences to his family. We will never forget him.

The Policeman stood and faced his God,

Which must always come to pass.

He hoped his shoes were shining as brightly as his brass.

“Step forward now, officer. How shall I deal with You?

Have you always turned the other cheek?

…To my Church have you been true?”

The officer squared his shoulders and said,

“No, Lord, I guess I ain’t.

Cause those of us who carry badges can’t always be a saint.

But I never took a penny that wasn’t mine to keep,

Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.

And sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears.

I know I don’t deserve a place among the people here.

They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.

If you’ve a place for me here, Lord, it needn’t be so grand.

I’ve never expected or had too much.

But if you don’t, I’ll understand.”

There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod.

As the officer waited quietly for the answer of his God.

“Step forward now, Officer, you’ve borne your burdens well.

Come walk a beat on Heaven’s Streets. You’ve done your time in Hell.”

I wouldn’t take much notice of a few thumbs down. Anything Garda related will draw the attention of a few scumbags who are bitter at having been caught out by guards doing their job.
Quite sad really that they vent anonymously with a red thumb in an article related to a families tragedy. No balls to leave a comment though!

Its not easy travelling home while possibly having worked through the night, on a busy bank holiday Sunday.

Putting in at the end of a report that , garda ombudsman investigating. , always casts a dark cloud over it , as if he was doing something illegal ! ! ! Always fail to mention that gardai investigating also . Not very fair to families ! !

R.I.P. Yet again I find myself aghast at red thumbs on an article abouta lost life and the tragic consequences for family friends and emergency service workers..in this case some of whom quite possibly knew this poor victim.

Seriously journal, is it really really necessary to have a picture of the poor mans car being towed away from the scene. That is pure gutter journalism right there.

Why is the fact that he was a Garda even relevant as a news story? The fact another human being has died should be enough. Cannot recall anyone elses profession being stated in other similar tragedies RIP

Local news said he is from Wexford

I think that the journal should remove the red thumbs.

The journal must want the controversy as they could put the thumbs down on the left hand side.
