Masked man threatens driver with hatchet

Three masked men were on board a car that pulled out in front of the man, forcing him to stop.

THREE MASKED MEN were involved in a robbery yesterday in which a man was threatened.

The incident occurred in the Lanark Way area of Belfast.

At approximately 6.40am police received a report that as a man was driving his car in Lanark Way, a small silver four-door car with three masked men on board pulled out directly in front of him, forcing him to stop.

Two of the masked men got out of their vehicle, one brandishing what is believed to have been a hatchet.

One of these men then got into the victim’s car and stole a mobile phone and a sum of cash from him.

While the victim was not injured during this incident, police said he has been left very badly shaken.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information to contact them at Tennent Street on 101.

Information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
