#BRAZIL: Tensions rose in Brazil overnight as more than 1,000 protesters took to the streets of Rio De Janeiro, angered with a train fare increase. The protest is the latest show of anger towards the country’s government, ahead of their hosting of the 2014 World Cup.

#SOCHI: A flight from Ukraine to Turkey landed safely in Istanbul after a man claiming to have a bomb demanded the plane be diverted to the site of the Winter Olympics, which got underway today.

#UNDIPLOMATIC: The US is red-faced after the leak of an embarrassing phone call in which a top US diplomat cursed the EU response to the Ukraine crisis. US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland is heard saying “F**k the EU” on a bugged phone call.
