Four men appear in court charged with assault and false imprisonment of Kevin Lunney

The four men were arrested last week in the ongoing probe.

LAST UPDATE | 26 Nov 2019

FOUR MEN HAVE appeared in court charged with the assault and false imprisonment of Kevin Lunney in September.

The men range in age from 25 to 66 and have addresses in Dublin and Cavan.

66 year old Luke O’Reilly of Mullahoran Lower, Kilcogy, Co. Cavan, 38 year old Alan O’Brien of Shelmalier Road, East Wall, Dublin, 25 year old Darren Redmond of Caledon Road, East Wall, Dublin and a fourth man were arrested by gardaí last week.

The men covered their faces using their hands and items of clothing as they were escorted into Virginia District Court this morning.

All four have been charged with the assault and false imprisonment of Kevin Lunney.

Luke O’Reilly and the fourth man, who can’t be named due to reporting restrictions, were remanded in custody after no bail applications were made.

Two bail applications were made on behalf of Alan O’Brien and Darren Redmond, which were objected to by gardaí on a number of grounds including concerns over evidence and potential witness intimidation.

Judge Denis McLoughlin refused both men bail. All four have been remanded to Castlerea Prison.
