The Tánaiste has lost her Dáil seat but refused to comment this evening on what she would do if she was not elected.

FIANNA FÁIL’S MARY COUGHLAN has been eliminated after the fourth count in Donegal South West.

Thomas Pringle, an Independent candidate, now looks likely to take the  seat Coughlan had fought to retain.

Sinn Féin Pearse Doherty took the first seat in the constituency after topping the poll there earlier on.

Speaking to RTÉ Radio One earlier this evening, Coughlan said she wouldn’t conceded until further counts had been carried out in the hopes that Fianna Fáil could take a seat in Donegal South West.

She also said she remained committed both to politics and to Fianna Fáil, and would not speculate about her career if she failed to take a seat.

  • If there was a prize for a jobsworth Lapdog she would have won hands down. Cheerio now. Still I do think her name will go down in history. Not every politician can boast of being involved in the worst government in the history of the state. Something to tell the grandchildren eh.

  • Im delighted that “Calamity Coughlan” is gone…
It would have been better for the Country and better for Donegal
if she was turfed out years ago…..

But having said that,, I do feel sad for the decent hardworking Coughlans who went before her..
Her uncle Clement and her father Cathal… May they both rest in peace..
They must be turning in their graves now at what Mary has done to their hard work..
They both loved the Ireland and its people, they never forgot the people who they represented..

Mary never loved he people,, all she loved was herself, a fancy title and the excitement of it all.
She never remembered the people and treated them with contempt.. She saw her supporters as a
necessary evil., Only needed at election time..

The loyal supporters who supported Fianna Fail through very difficult times in the past, just couldnt take any more from “Calamity Coughlan” …

Never cut off the hand that feeds u…
