EBOLA

  • A UN employee died from the terrible disease in Germany. He picked up the virus in west Africa.
  • Heathrow started screening for Ebola. Gatwick and the Eurostar are next.
  • Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has given €20 million to the global fight against Ebola.  
  • Meanwhile, two US Ebola patients have said they are doing well as they recover from the horrendous illness.
  • And the dog of the Texas nurse with Ebola has been spared.
  • But there will always be somebody on the gain. Blue String Ventures is looking to sell ebola.com for €118,500.

  • Taxi app Hailo didn’t break America. It’s OK, Hailo, neither did Oasis. 
  • Facebook and Apple have said they will pay for their female workers to freeze their eggs so they can continue with their careers – and bear children later.
  • Snapchat hasn’t made any promises but says it will try and improve security after a third-party app leaked photos.
  • They aren’t the only ones in trouble, Dropbox has also had to distance itself from claims that 7 million accounts were hacked.
  • Speaking of security, a flaw in Microsoft Windows allowed hackers based in Russia to spy on NATO, European governments and a host of other organisations. Oops.

  • That John O’Shea moment happened
  • In the same group, Poland and Scotland drew 2-2.
  • Northern Ireland beat Greece 2-0 in Athens.
  • Another European qualifier between Serbia and Albania was abandoned because of crowd trouble. The brother of Albania’s Prime Minister was also arrested.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo scored this goal to help Portugal beat Denmark.
  • Luis Suarez said he wasn’t racist to Patrice Evra. He’s not letting this one go.
  • The FA has scolded Rio Ferdinand for using the term ‘sket’ on Twitter. Definition here.
