24 people arrested during day-long Garda crime crackdown in Co Kilkenny

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED 24 people during a major crackdown on crime in Co Kilkenny.

The operation, an offshoot of Operation Thor known as Project Storm was run in the Thomastown Garda district earlier today.

During the day-long operation a total of 13 premises and locations were searched as part of investigations into recent burglaries, robberies and the sale and supply of controlled drugs. Trainee gardaí from the Garda College in Templemore, Co Tipperary, assisted with the operation.

Of the 24 arrests, four were on warrant with the 20 remaining for a variety of offences including theft, assault, fraud, burglary and actions contravening the Misuse of Drugs Acts.

Twelve people have been charged and will appear at local sittings of Kilkenny District Court in the coming weeks.

Garda personnel monitored the activities of local criminals by means of a total of 23 checkpoints in the area.
