AFTER HIS APPEARANCE on Pat Kenny’s Newstalk programme yesterday, could Taoiseach Enda Kenny go on the Late Late Show?
The Taoiseach is known for being choosy about his one-on-one interviews, but perhaps Ryan Tubridy might be the one to tempt Kenny onto the Late Late set.
Tubridy, who also hosts a weekday morning show on RTÉ 2FM from 9 -11am, said that he hoped the Fine Gael leader would appear on the prime time chat show.
I think that it’s his prerogative, he has had a good 2015 so far so he has lots of good things he can talk about – it doesn’t have to be all bad in fairness.
I think the Irish people would like to see him on the Late Late Show, and I would like to see him on the Late Late Show, and the invitation is open. He will get a respectful interview. It will be nice to see. I can’t tell him to and I don’t expect him to do it unless he wants to, so it’s up to him.
Asked whether the same-sex marriage referendum was going to make broadcasting difficult for them, the Tubridy team said that it’s “no different to any other referendum”.
Tubridy said that the “same rules apply” when talking about this referendum on air, as about any other.
The presenter also mentioned Kenny’s response to Leo Varadkar telling him about his sexuality, saying: “I think even his reaction to Leo Varadkar was very amusing and a warm reaction, I thought it was very becoming.”
