Family left terrified as armed gang raids suburban Dublin home

The masked intruders fled the scene in a grey Audi A3

AN INVESTIGATION HAS been launched after an armed gang raided a Dublin home on Monday evening.

Gardaí are investigating an aggravated burglary which took place in the Shrewsbury Lawn estate in Cabinteely at 5.15pm.

A three-man gang, who wore balaclavas and were armed with metal bars, burst into the house which was occupied by a 56-year-old woman and her two daughters, aged 17 and 21. Two of the men ran upstairs while the third remained on the ground floor.

After less than a minute in the house the gang made away with a very small amount of cash and some bank cards.

The criminals fled the scene in a grey Audi A3 which they abandoned very close to the house and set on fire.

Someone can be found guilty of aggravated burglary if they carry out a burglary while armed with a weapon.

A person found guilty of the offence can face life imprisonment.
