I’ve been to see the Australian & American cycling teams in training at Newport Velodrome and that was pretty exciting. One of the Americans had an accident during road training, broke his jaw but is still competing! Such determination.

Really looking forward to it. I have to say too, channel 4 have done an excellent ad campaign for it.

I’m really looking forward to it. The athletes at the Paralympic games are a true inspiration, showing those with disabilities what is truly possible.

They are genuine heros, but I won’t be watching to be honest.
Go all pc on me if you want but I don’t really watch sports.

RTE are providing a 30 minute highlights show at night, which is shameful. Channel 4′s coverage should be good and I wish all athletes best of luck.

I have great respect for all in the paralympics. To overcome being disabled and compete at a very high level is fantastic.

I’m shocked to see the No’s are leading with 45%!! Really enjoyed the Olympics and am expecting to feel the same about the Paralympics. Shame on RTE, these athletes have dedicated themselves to represent their countries as did the athletes at the Olympics and should be receiving the same recognition!

Really looking forward to it, especially the equestrian. I’ve got tickets to quite a few events, should be a great event. The British are doing a great job to give it the exposure it deserves, the athletes may not be as well known as their Olympic compatriots, but they put in just as much work.

I think it’s a shame that this question has been asked. What are we to surmise if responses are overwhelmingly no, or indeed yes? The question has been given no context and so a forum has been created for the ill-informed and the bigoted, to say nothing of those who simply have no interest in sport and type ‘No’. I’ll watch with great pride and expect to be at least as affected as I was during the Olympics.

RTE don’t have the cash to pay for the rights to live coverage .

This is a good time for RTÉ to work on their lack of diversity and they should take their inspiration from Channel Four.

The paralympics deserves just as much attention as the Olympics! looking forward to seeing Team Ireland compete..

Why are Irish Paralympians and Special Olympians always more successful in winning medals than their able bodied counterparts? Just asking.

I’ll be honest I’ve no interest in it. The real games was fantastic but armless people swimming I’m sorry I’m not being cruel just I’ve no interest at all but more power to them

Great to see them gettin in there moment in the spotlight…but lets be serious none of us r gunna watch it…hardly usain bolt stuff!!

Enough sports even I have loads of respect for them and it is so inspiring….maybe have a peek but enough already!

I question who the event is held for? Is it for the parents or the competitors ? It seems unfair to me to set these people up against each other in this way. I think the whole issue should be debated and the money that is spent could be used to help suffering kids with special needs in these tough times. Sorry for upsetting people but I know a few people who could do with support in this area and struggle to get by.
