Seven hundred GlaxoSmithKline workers called to a meeting

The pharmaceutical giant is the biggest employer in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. Employees will meet with management at 3pm.

WORKERS AT THE GlaxoSmithKline plant in Waterford have been called to a meeting this afternoon to discuss the restructuring of the plant.

The factory is the largest employer in Dungarvan, and has been in the town for almost 30 years reports RTÉ.

Earlier this year the company announced that it was divesting some of its products in order to focus on “fast-growing priority brands”. Solpadeine was one of the brands divested, while Panadol, which is made in Dungarvan, was identified as a core product, according to Newstalk.

GlaxoSmithKline has been carrying out a review of operations in Waterford for a number of months. The company has declined to comment on what this afternoon’s meeting is about.
