A DAY OF mourning has been declared in Pakistan following Wednesday’s fatal plane crash in the Margalla Hills, near the capital of Islamabad.

The Federal Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, declared the one day of mourning for the victims of the crash.

There were no survivors after the Airbus A321, which was carrying 152 people, crashed during stormy weather.

A PASSENGER plane has crashed on Margalla Hills, near the Pakistani capital Islamabad, killing all on board.

The Airbus A321 was carrying 152 people; 146 passengers and six crew. Two unnamed Americans are among the victims.

The crash took place in the early hours of the morning , shortly after the aircraft lost contact with the control centre. The cause of the crash is not yet known.


Rain is hampering efforts to recovered the bodies from the hillside following the crash, which Airblue spokesman Raheel Ahmed called “an extremely tragic incident” when addressing reporters earlier today.

This is the first crash experienced by the Pakistani Airline, which as announced that it is launching an investigation into the cause behind the accident.
