Staff told of AIB outsourcing plans at mass hotel meeting
Banking union the IBOA says there’s a sense of “betrayal and disappointment” among staff as a result of the planned move.

AIB HAS CONFIRMED plans to outsource 170 jobs to three different companies.
Some 250 IT staff at the bank were called to a hotel in the Ballsbridge area of Dublin this morning to be told the news.
170 roles are being transferred, and the remaining 80 staff will remain with the bank.
There will be no redundancies as a result of the decision, a spokesperson said.
“AIB today confirmed that it is entering a process of consultation with employees representatives to discuss the bank’s plans to outsource a number of its services to Eircom, Integrity and Wipro,” a statement said.
Larry Broderick of banking union the IBOA spoke of “betrayal and disappointment” among staff as a result of the planned move, ahead of a planned meeting with management.
He said that any changes to terms must be negotiated with unions “and members interests taken very seriously indeed”.
The announcement follows a review of IT services at the bank.
