Woohoo! 140 new jobs for Limerick created by Canadian company

Optel Vision is heading to the city.

JOBS MINISTER RICHARD Bruton has announced 140 new jobs for Limerick as part of a European expansion by Canadian company Optel Vision.

Those looking for work will see jobs advertised over the next three years in engineering, design, assembly, testing, customer support, sales, HR, finance and administration.

Recruitment has already started for some roles.

The engineering firm, which specialises in vision inspection solutions for manufacturing industries, is setting up its EMEA manufacturing and operations centre in the city.

Its products and systems for the pharmaceutical, medical devices and chemical industries help reduce the health risks associated with mislabelled products, dosage errors and mix-ups, while protecting genuine manufacturers against illegal counterfeiting.

Optel Vision is taking over the former ON Semiconductor facility at Raheen Business Park, with its CEO Louis Roy claiming it landed in Ireland for the country’s “highly skilled persons”.

The investment has been supported by the Department of Jobs, Innovation and Enterprise and IDA Ireland.
