Second arrest made after man dies in alleged assault in Co Kerry

The man’s body was discovered at around 12:30am in the Knockanure village area.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested following a fatal alleged assault in Co Kerry.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 12:30am in the Knockanure village area.

A spokesperson said that upon arrival, a man aged in his 40s was discovered with fatal injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Kerry for a post-mortem examination.

This morning, a man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the incident and is currently detained at a garda station in Kerry.

This afternoon, a second man in his 20s was also arrested in connection with the investigation and is also detained at a garda station in Kerry. 

Gardaí are appealing to the public for information in relation to this incident.

Any road users who were travelling in the vicinity of Knockanure village between 12:00am and 1:00am and may have camera footage (including dash cam) are asked to make this available.
