MORE THAN 1,550 heritage events are taking place around the country over the next four days with a view to protect and enhance the richness, quality and diversity of Ireland’s national heritage.

National Heritage Week is providing an exciting look at Irish culture, and will see everything from archaeology, traditional skills, and historical re-enactments explored – and heritage properties not usually open to the public unlocked.

More than 600,000 people are expected to take part in the festival and most of the events are free. A list of events can be checked by location and category through the free iPhone / Android Heritage Week Event App or through heritageweek.ie.

Dubliners Dubliners’: A Pictorial Exhibition Of James Joyce’s ‘Dubliners’
20 – 26 August 09:00 – 17:00  (free)

A pictorial exhibition of James Joyce’s Book ‘Dubliners’ featuring the fifteen stories from the book. The exhibition will continue past National Heritage Week until the 14 September 2012 as per above times. Venue: St. Nicholas of Myra Parish Centre, Carmans Hall, Francis Street, Dublin 8.

Geology Boat Cruise, Co Clare
23 August : 17:15 – 19:00 (€15)

A guided geology tour around the Cliffs of Moher by boat (subject to weather). The ferry trip will bring visitors from Doolin to Liscannor, with a bus return to Doolin. Venue: Cliffs of Moher Cruises, Doolin Pier, Doolin, Clare.

Night Time Nature Walk, Co Donegal
23 August : 20:00 – 22:00 (free)

Take your chance to explore the park at dusk and enjoy learning more about the wildlife in at this time of day. Please bring your own picnic. Booking required.
