There are faster ways to sort out your phone's photo space problem
Because going through your photo albums the normal way is just painful.
IF YOU TAKE a lot of photos, you’ll know the pain of eventually having to filter through hundreds of them as you try to free up space.
Sure, you can go for the nuclear option and just wipe everything but you could deleting photos that you might have forgotten about.
So what do you do? Well, you could go the traditional route and just scroll through your camera roll but if you have hundreds of photos saved, that’s going to take a while. Thankfully, you have better options at your disposal.
If you’re on iOS, you have some options to go for. If you rather go through your photos individually but speed up the process, you could try Flic (Free/ €2.99 for the premium version). Taking inspiration from Tinder, it allows you to quickly go through your photo album by swiping right to keep and left to delete.
At the very least, it speeds up the process of looking at each photo individually.
If you want something a little less specific, then UnDuplicate (€0.99) is a better alternative.
Showing only duplicate photos and grouping them based on the month they were taken, it’s a faster way of removing any recurring photos. It’s handy if you’re the type of person to take the same photo repeatedly but with different lighting or focus.
A similar app is the literally-titled Duplicate Photo Fixer (Free), which you can ask to aggressively search for duplicates if you’re in dire need of space.
One handy feature is it prevents you from marking every photo in each group as you’re removing duplicates.
But what if I’m on Android?
Good question and the answer is you’ve quite a few apps to choose from. One of the best out there would be Gallery Doctor (Free), which both identifies duplicate photos and recommends which ones to keep.
Much like Flic for iOS, non-duplicate photos from folders like WhatsApp can be filtered through a swipe left/right system.
If that isn’t to your liking, then maybe something like DupPhoto Cleaner (Free) will better suit your needs.
By grouping together duplicate photos, you can delete selected or unselected photos, depending on which is easier.
