THE LATEST UPDATE to WhatsApp for iPhone brought with it voice calling, a long-awaited feature for many, but another handy feature may have slipped past you.
On iOS, you can now check who (or what groups) you chat to the most as well as the amount of space each chat is taking up.
The addition, which was first spotted by The Telegraph, was brought in with update 2.12.3 back in June
If you go into Settings > Account > Storage Usage, you will see a breakdown of the messages sent to you from most to least.
You can also check how much space is being used up by each contact and group you’ve set up on the same screen. This is handy if WhatsApp is taking up far too much space and you want to see which chats are causing it.
Android users don’t have the same functionality yet. For now, they can see how many messages they have in total and some stats on data.
Also, voice calling has been added for iPhone users recently, but if you want to make a call while you’re on mobile data, there is a way to reduce the usage.
If you go into Settings > Chats and Calls > Low Data Usage, you can reduce the amount of data used during calls. It may reduce the quality of your calls somewhat but if you have to use mobile data to make a call, it’s a handy tool to have.
Android users can do the same thing by following the same steps.
