1. #ABORTION LAWS Cabinet will get a second week to discuss a bill brought by Deputy Mick Wallace which would allow terminations in the case of fatal foetal abnormality. It’s expected there will be agreement today on the Independent Alliance’s request for a free vote on the bill.

2. #LOOK UP After five years, a NASA spacecraft called Juno has finally reached Jupiter. Scientists have promised close-up views of the planet from Juno during its 20-month, $1.1 billion mission.

3. #FLORIDA A dad accidentally shot his son (14) at a gun range on Sunday. A surveillance video revealed that when the father went to retrieve a shell casing, he accidentally pulled the gun’s trigger.

4. #VOTING Tory MPs are to vote to choose David Cameron’s successor today in the first step of the party’s leadership race.

5. #ROME The body of a 19-year-old American student was found in the Tiber River in Rome. He had last been seen with his friends at a pub, and an investigation is underway.

6. #ARGENTINA The Argentinian president, Mauricio Macri, says that his country’s claim to the Falkland Islands remains unchanged after the Brexit vote.

7. #LISTENING IN New laws are set to be brought in which will allow gardaí to intercept the emails and social media accounts of criminal suspects, the Irish Times reports. Minister Frances Fitzgerald will bring the bill before Cabinet today.

8. #IRISH WATER The chairman of the government’s commission into water charges, Joe O’Toole, came under fire for some of his comments about water yesterday. But he has criticised calls from Fianna Fáil’s Barry Cowen and Anti-Austerity Alliance’s Paul Murphy saying he should consider his position.

9. #AUSTRALIA After a disastrous election, the current Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull has apologised – but he says he won’t resign.
