1. #GARDAGATE: Gardaí in west Cork spoke about offering money to a witness to solidify their case against Ian Bailey for the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier in 1996, The Sunday Times reports.

2. #CUTBACKS: The Sunday Business post reveals patients who are suicidal or exercising severe psychotic episodes are being denied hospital beds in Dublin due to shortages.

3. #ASSAULT: Promoters for John Joe Nevin have said a serious leg injury sustained in an assault sparked by a family feud will keep him out of the ring for up to three months.

4. #LEAKS: The Data Commissioner is investigating at least one social welfare official, the Sunday Independent reports, over suspicions they have been selling sensitive information about people to private investigators.

5. #HOPE: Planes and ships are being diverted to the area where signals consistent with a black box beacon were detected in the search for missing flight MH370, AFP reports.

6. #AFGHANISTAN: Leaders in Afghanistan and across the world have hailed yesterday’s election vote as a success with more than 7 million people – 34 per cent of whom were women – having their say, BBC reports.

7. #SYMPHYSIOTOMY: Minister James Reilly has received a report into the practices of symphysiotomy in this country by Judge Yvonne Murphy – now the second report on the issue on the minister’s desk.

8. #EGYPT: The trial of deposed Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi for the murder of opposition protesters will hear “decisive” testimony from senior security officials.

9. #HATE THAT: Love/Hate is old news apparently as new production The Fall walked away with best drama a the IFTAs last night. Here are the rest of the winners.
