1. #RESHUFFLE The new line-up of the junior ministerial bench is expected today, with the creation of a new post, focusing on rural affairs, expected to go to a Labour TD.

2. #GARTH BROOKS The Garth Brooks concerts are definitely off, after an announcement from the country singer last night. He is expected to make an announcement about his world tour later today.

3. #ROY COLLINS The verdict is due today in the Roy Collins murder trial. The Limerick businessman died in 2009 after being shot in the chest. The non-jury Special Criminal Court will give the verdict in the case of two men accused of his murder.

4. #WHISTLEBLOWERS Legislation comes in today that protects whistleblowers. The Protected Disclosures Act 2014 provides protection to all employees, including contractors, agency workers, gardaí and members of the Defence Forces.

5. #CONFLICT Israel has accepted an Egyptian truce proposal – but so far Hamas appears to have rejected the bid. The death toll in the week-long conflict has risen to 186 Palestinians. US President Barack Obama says the pictures in Gaza and Israel are “heart-breaking”.

6. #WATCH OUT Aran islanders are being warned not to swim with bottlenose dolphin Dusty, who has recently arrived in the area. The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group says that Dusty is “an amazing dolphin” but is concerned that he might cause serious injury to humans.

7. #HOMELESS Only three State-owned properties have been identified by the Office of Public Works as potentially suitable for homeless people in Dublin. The Government asked the OPW to look at the properties, including Fitzgibbon Street Garda Station, the Irish Times reports.

8. #NEAR MISS Two planes nearly collided at an airport in central Vietnam after a young intern was left in charge of directing a busy runway. The planes came within 350m of each other, but one of the pilots helped raise the alarm.

9. #MOSCOW METRO One person has died and dozens were injured after a Moscow metro train derailed. At least 50 people are believed to have been injured, with a statement from the metro saying a train derailed on the network’s blue line.
