THE EDUCATION MINISTER has come in for criticism this morning for failing to ban fizzy drinks from school vending machines.
She says that schools should be encouraged to offer healthy options but banning things is “difficult”.
However, the Royal College of Physicians has warned that Ireland could soon top Europe’s obesity tables if proper action is not taken. The doctors take particular issue with the current ‘Share a Coke’ campaign which uses “almost all of the 100 most popular names of 7-8 year olds”.
What do you think? Should fizzy drinks be banned from school vending machines?
