POLICE IN ROSWELL, New Mexico have a suspect in custody following a reported shooting at a middle school in the city.

Two students are being treated for injuries, according to local reporters from KOB4, citing a spokesperson from the Eastern New Mexico Medical Centre.

Berrendo Middle School is on lockdown, authorities confirmed, with police asking parents not to travel to the building.

Local television reported that pupilss were being bused to a nearby shopping centre.

Children attending middle school are generally aged between 11 and 13 years old.
