BRITISH POP SINGER Cliff Richard has been interviewed by police over an allegation of a sex crime involving a young boy in the 1980s.

A spokesman for the singer said he met “voluntarily” with police this week and that the accusations were false.

“He was not arrested or charged, nor has he ever been,” the spokesman said.

Other than restating that the allegations are completely false and that he will continue to co-operate fully with the police, it would not be appropriate for Sir Cliff to say anything further at this time.

Richard, 75, was interviewed by detectives last year after a raid on his home in Berkshire in southeast England.

There has been a wave of accusations of historical sex abuse against prominent figures in Britain since 2012.
