The only problem with an underground would be: Look at the London underground… enough said.

The London Underground is over 140 years old, they are pumping billions into it every year in renovations and new trains, i live in London from Dublin, a tube is every 1-3 minutes. at peak hour they are every minute. London is a huge city with 12 million people. The tube was not built to handle that many people. Over a billion trips a year are made. For Dublin it would work, 1.5 million people today, they could plan an underground for now and the future. It should have been built 15 years ago.

The only thing that’s wrong with the London underground is that it’s so old. I’ve used it many times, and it’s amazing except in the summer months. OMG the heat and smell on a tube is awful!

I’m not talking about the efficiency of the service, but the junkies that inhabit those kind of places. It’s been a fair few years since I’ve been on a London Tube, maybe the problem isn’t so bad now?

They are installing air conditioning on the tube but it will take time just like the renovations. air-conditioning is in operation on the Metropolitan line the Circle line, Hammersmith & City lines the District line will have it next year. Some lines are to deep for air-conditioning like the dreaded Victoria line the hottest, the whole line is underground. Junkies is not a problem on the tube, outside the tube yes at some stations. But you will get Junkies and beggers in all big cities. The Underground is safe enough, they have plenty of staff in tube stations and transport police, is the luas safe today above ground??
