Outgoing Fine Gael TD Andrew Doyle is seeking re-election for a second term as deputy for Wicklow. The former farmer was elected to Dáil Eireann at the first time of asking in 2007, receiving over 10 per cent of first preferences in the five-seat constituency. Before stepping up to the national stage, the 50-year-old served as a member of Wicklow County Council for eight years from 1999 to 2007. Doyle's background in farming led was to his appointment as Fine Gael's Spokesperson on Agriculture, Fisheries & Food in 2010.



Policies
  • To improve Wicklow's transport links, including the completion of the N11 between Rathnew and Arklow
  • To create jobs, in particular in the agri-food sector
  • To ensure delivery of healthcare and education services to Wiclow

 

Did you know?

The election of both Doyle and his running mate Billy Timmins in 2007 marked the first time that Fine Gael had held two seats in Wicklow since 1982.
