Four arrests and €840k worth of cannabis seized in Dublin

Cannabis plants and herbal cannabis was seized at an industrial unit in Ballyboughal last night.

FOUR MEN HAVE been arrested and cannabis with a combined street value of €840,000 has been seized in Dublin.

Local Garda drug units and the national drugs unit carried out a search of an industrial unit near Ballyboughal in Co Dublin last night at around 7.30pm.

Approximately 1500 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €600,000 and freshly harvested herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €240,000 was seized.

Four men – one aged in his 20s, two in their 30s, and one in their 40s – were arrested in the operation.

They are currently being detained under section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act at Raheny and Santry Garda stations.

I’d like to see a national poll on legalisation.
This is the biggest waste of resources, finding plants out in the sticks using the garda helicopter and thermal imaging.

€804,000 the government could be profiting from if common sense came into play..i dont smoke but if were selling alcohol then i dont see why cannibus isnt legal & sold/taxed by government

I’m so glad the government are winning the war on drugs. This will help stop the A/E s being full of cannabis smokers. Hopefully we’ll see less dope smokers fighting on the streets and engaging in antisocial behaviour. I suppose it will free up the heroin users to carry on with their Meals on Wheels and Tidy Towns activities. . . . .

Maybe if they were to outlaw growing vegetables in your garden everyone would realise the sheer lunacy of this law. It needs to be repealed.

Those 4 should be kept locked up until trial. Too many are arrested and released within a few hours to await a dpp decision in a year or two.

  2 haul for this week and about 3 or 4 last week…think about it..the demand is always there..stopping it is impossible,america, mexico have tried to stop it..they couldnt….u cant even blame the importers anymore..cos the smokers want it..unless u go into every house in ireland every day to stop who is smoking weed..the best thing to do is legalise it..sum countries are doing it so y not ireland..u even get more tourist and less gang related crime…tax it so much that the crime bosses cant afford to pay and the gov will take up the trade..and u get more profit than the fags..

The point is the people growing and selling are criminals, even if we legalised it these criminals would just turn to another crime.
