GARDAÍ HAVE LAUNCHED a murder inquiry in connection with the discovery of a woman’s body in Lixnaw, county Kerry yesterday.

Named locally as Susan Dunne/Sheehy, the 53-year-old victim was found dead in her home at Ballinageragh by a neighbour yesterday morning. She had suffered numerous head injuries.

A post-mortem on her remains was completed today but the results are not being made public.

A 19-year-old man, known to the deceased, has been arrested and is being held at Listowel garda station.

It is understood she moved to the area a number of years ago. She was heavily involved with Kerry Autism Action and the group posted a tribute to her on their Facebook page last night:

Tonight we are very sad to announce the death of Kerry Autism Action’s Sue Sheehy. Sue was Admin here and originally set up this information page as she wanted to promote ASD Awareness as much as possible all year round. Sue was an amazing lady that will never be forgotten by many families for all her help to them. We would like to express our Sincere Condolonces to Sue’s family and friends at this tragic time, and we hope that everyone will respect the privacy and wishes of the family.
