  • Think before you rant. When they say “a file is being prepared for the DPP” it means that the DPP will look at the evidence and make a decision on whether or not there is a case to answer. If there is then the driver will be charged.

  • Somebody could stepped out in front of him and he swerved to avoid them, another car in the wrong which left the scene, not saying this happened but there are numerous mitigating factors which could have caused the accident.

Around that area is riddled with CCTV, so I’m sure that the Gardai have reviewed the footage and seen exactly what happened from many different angles and know exactly what happened. Presuming guilt without all the facts or being an eye witness is unfair on the man who’s life will be changed forever after such tragic events..

  • Frank. You are presuming guilt. Thankfully we have a judicial system that looked at all aspects of the incident and endured that the motorist got justice.

  • Chances are the gards are looking to have the case dealt with on indictment ie: in the circuit court. This means having to get direction from the DPP to do so. Before this can be done all witness statements/CCTV/Forensic scene analysis reports/post mortem results/ exam of the car etc. must be got and compiled into a file. This Obviously will take time to do right.
Shoplifting is a relativly minor crime and is dealt with in the lower courts so directions from DPP aren’t needed when there is very strong evidence like CCTV.

  • He could at the very least been charged for traffic offences (not a through street for traffic)

Does being charged with one thing stop you being charged with others?
