EVERY WEEKDAY EVENING, TheJournal.ie brings you the five stories you need to know before you clock off for the day.

1. #ULSTER BANK Ulster Bank has said that it now can’t say for sure when the problems with customer accounts will be fixed. They’ve stopped putting a specific date on when they’re resume normal service. Meanwhile we’ve been asking  you how you’ve been affected.

2. #POPE? Is the pope coming to Ireland? That’s what the Irish Daily Mirror has reported today, although the Catholic Communications Office has said that there are no concrete plans for a 2013 visit to Northern Ireland and the Republic. It’s expected that when he does visit, the pope will make a public apology to victims of clerical abuse.

3. #ATTACKS Two members of An Garda Síochána are assaulted every day on average. That’s according to the Garda Representative Association which says the number of attacks is rising and is calling for more protection in terms of resources and legal challenges.

4. #KOSOVO Kosovo has today achieved full independence and will acquire full sovereignty in September. The International Steering Group overseeing the territory’s independence said today that international supervision is ending.

5. #NICE TRY Two kids tried to get their paws on the Olympic flame as it travelled through Coventry today, but did they succeed? Watch the video.
