periods are not an insult

After controversial comments, Trump faces onslaught of tweets from women describing their periods

“Hey Donald Trump, I just got my period.”

US PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE Donald Trump has come under plenty of fire in recent days for his now infamous remarks about Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly.

The pair clashed during last week’s Republican debate, in which she asked him a string of tough questions about his views on migrants and women.

In a later interview with CNN, Trump said she had “blood coming out her eyes” and “blood coming out of her … wherever”.

While his comments were widely interpreted to have been about menstruation, Trump has since claimed that he was referring only to a nosebleed.

Unconvinced, many women are now tweeting him stories of their periods with the hashtag #PeriodsAreNotAnInsult.

The Twitter campaign was started by Amber Gordon, founder of feminist blog Femsplain, who has also set up a website with template tweets to send the 69-year-old billionaire.

While Trump has yet to respond to the hashtag campaign, he previously said the backlash against his remarks was led by “politically correct fools”.
