Man armed with machete robs from bank customer

Police are hoping members of the public can help identify the suspect.

A PERSON AT a bank was mugged this morning by a man who is believed to have been wielding a machete.

Detectives in North Belfast are appealing for information following the armed robbery of a person at a bank in the Shankill Road area. The incident took place this morning, with the report being received by the PSNI just before 9.40am.

They said that a man, believed to be armed with a machete, made off in the direction of the city in a silver coloured car.

He is described as being approximately 5’9″ and stocky build.

Detective Inspector Jacqueline Scott appealed for information.

“I would ask anyone who saw the silver car in the area at the time of the incident or who knows anything about this incident to contact CID at Tennent Street Police Station on the non emergency number 101,” she said.

If someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
