Nothing suprises me, the oasis was always a kip, a few years ago a local thug sliced up his uncle with a samarai sword, the last 30 years it was always known for drugs, the local sinn fein used to do vigilante shifts cos the off licence sold to kids, everytime the licence is for renewal its put in a barmans name, it was always raided at least once a year by the drugs squad (good old pool table was always good to hide the gear) or when they pulled down the shutters to keep serving when the holy hour.existed, or the best was when they would buy the kegs robbed off the trains by the local (a neighbour of mine lost his arm robbing a train) it was always.called the wild west for a reason

Paul received a 6 year prison sentence in 2008 for storing drugs. if he had served his whole sentance he would still be alive.

I’m living in cabra on dingle rd the last few years the people around are salt of the earth decent folks pity to see this shite..

I feel sorry for his family particulary his dad who was with him when he was shot but its hard to feel sympathy for him. We all have a choice in life. He chose to walk a path that had certains risks attached.

Hatred is rife in Ireland these days. Judging by the terrible, terrible sentiments expressed by many on this story. People in Ireland want blood these days, there’s no doubt about it. Anywhere they can get it. More blood. They want to see everyone disgraced, dragged through the dirt for their transgressions. Ireland is very angry and is not far from reverting to a state of barbarism. Why can’t we just open our hearts and let the love back in? Let the happiness and strength return. The aggression from being the victim for so long now is killing the humanity in so many. Only peace and humility can win for those virtues alone give us true strength. The murdered man may have been a criminal but he was still a human. One our not distant brothers. I only hope we can do our own part and make our world a little nicer for one another. God only knows what sort of skeletons most of these ‘glad he’s dead’ people have in their own closets. i bet there’s plenty of bad stuff in them. Rip poor man. A victim and a participant in the continued hatred cycle.

While I know nothing of this man or pub & maybe he was a criminal some of the comments here are more of a scourge on society than anything that went on with this man or pub. For those of you that are content with this mans ending you may need to consider this. As long as we accept these shooting we are complicit & if they continue unpunished by the law they will get worse & then innocent people will die such as Veronica Guerin & the Hyland murder.
