Man assaulted in Swords baseball bat attack dies in hospital

Taiwo Jamani died in Beaumont Hospital today after he was injured in an incident with baseball bats on 10 October.

A MAN INJURED in an attack on Main Street in Swords last month has died in hospital.

Taiwo Jamani, aged 45 years and a Nigerian national, died in Beaumont Hospital today after he was injured in an incident with baseball bats on 10 October.

A 37-year-old man, Jooda Akanbi with an address in Swords, is currently before the courts in relation to assaulting the deceased.

The attack occurred in broad daylight on Main Street in the north Dublin town at about 12.20pm before Jamani was taken by ambulance to Beaumont.

Two baseball bats were recovered from the scene by gardaí afterwards.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for any persons who were in the vicinity and may have witnessed the incident to contact them if they have not already done so.

Any images or videos of the incident recorded on mobile phones or cameras are also being sought by gardaí.
