Very heavy traffic in Tipperary after section of M8 was closed due to multi-vehicle collision

AA Roadwatch reports that the closure has resulted in very heavy delays in the area on all routes through Cashel.

THERE WAS VERY heavy traffic this evening in Tipperary around Cashel after a section of the M8 had to close as emergency services deal with a multi-vehicle collision.

The collision occurred earlier this afternoon and resulted in a section of the M8 southbound between J9 Cashel South and J11 Cahir South being closed.

AA Roadwatch reports that the closure has resulted in very heavy delays in the area on all routes through Cashel.

There are particular delays coming from the Thurles Road due to people travelling home to Cork after the Munster hurling final match between Cork and Clare.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area if at all possible. The M8 has now reopened and traffic is moving.

It is unclear at this point if anyone was injured seriously in the collision.
