Man dies after Mullingar car crash

The single-vehicle accident, on the road between Mullingar and Killucan, occurred at about noon today.

ONE MAN HAS DIED and a second remains in critical condition in hospital after the car in which they were travelling crashed today.

The single-vehicle incident occurred on the Killucan Road, about five kilometres outside Mullingar, around noon.

The three occupants of the car – all men aged in their late 20s and early 30s – were injured and taken to hospitals in Mullingar and Tullamore for treatment.

One of the men was pronounced dead at the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore late this afternoon.

Gardaí said forensic collision investigators are at the scene.

The road remains closed and traffic diversions are in place.
