Update 14.12pm
AIB BANK HAVE said that the issue that caused a number of payments to be delayed for customers has now been resolved
Earlier this morning the bank said they were made aware that a number of payments had been delayed due to a “technical issue”.
This afternoon a spokesperson from the bank said “all payments have been applied to customer accounts”.
Delays
Customers earlier reported that the delays in payment processing had resulted in some not getting their disability allowance today, as well as other payments that were due to hit their accounts.
One TheJournal.ie reader said Wednesday is a particularly busy day for payments to go through, adding that it is also the day the disability allowance is paid.
Like the majority of welfare recipients, we haven’t a penny left by Wednesday of every week. I have no money to do shopping and no food in the house – literally sitting here waiting for money to come through so I can eat. Also my rent and ESB are paid automatically from my account today so far they haven’t been paid either.
This is not the first time there have been issues with payments and accessing money. The bank was hit with technical issues in January and February of this year alone.
