THREE TEENAGERS HAVE been arrested in connection with a burglary which took place in the early hours of this morning in Kildare town.
Gardaí said that the males (aged 18, 17 and 17) gained entry to a convenience shop on the Dublin Road in Kildare town at about 3.30am this morning.
According to gardaí, they took a quantity of cash and cigarettes from the shop before fleeing the scene in a car.
Gardaí on an active mobile patrol in north Kildare spotted the car and followed it after a description had been circulated to units.
The car was stopped on the Naas Road in Dublin close to the Red Cow roundabout and searched by gardaí.
The three teenagers were arrested and are currently being held at Naas Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The arrests were made as part of Operation Thor, the Garda initiative to tackle burglaries which was launched late last year.
There have been a number of arrests made in relation to Operation Thor in recent weeks, including two men arrested over thefts in Galway last week and other arrests made in relation to burglaries in Carlow.
