A 16-YEAR-OLD male has been charged in relation to the death of a student in Aberdeen.
It was confirmed yesterday evening that 16-year-old Bailey Gwynne had died following stab wounds.
The incident happened at Cults Academy in the Scottish city at around 1.30pm.
Gwynne was taken to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but sadly passed away.
The individual arrested as part of the murder investigation is set to appear before the Aberdeen Sheriff Court tomorrow.
Speaking about the incident, chief inspector Graeme Mackie, said, “This is a shocking and extraordinary incident for Aberdeen and firstly our thoughts are with the family and friends of the boy who has sadly lost his life.”
He went on to say that police in the region are working with education authorities and the wider community.
Following the attack Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon expressed her sympathies to the friends and family of the young man that had died.
