THE MEN INVOLVED in the killing of a mother-of-six and a young locksmith while attempting to kill someone else waited in a car for over an hour for their intended target to arrive.
Gardaí today reissued an appeal for information in connection with the murder of Antoinette Corbally and Clinton Shannon on Wednesday 16 August.
The pair were gunned down outside Corbally’s home on Balbutcher Road in Ballymun.
Corbally was the sister of convicted criminal Derek Devoy and gardaí believe that he was the intended target of the shooting but managed to escape.
TheJournal.ie understands gardaí had warned him of the threat to his life around three months ago.
In their appeal today, gardaí asked members of the public with any information to come forward.
Detective superintendent Colm Fox, senior investigating officer, said officers were trying to establish the earlier whereabouts of two vehicles that were used during the killing.
The first car is a silver Opel Zafira registration number 08 LS 3101. Before the murders, this was parked for an hour beside a building site at the junction of Balbutcher Lane and Balbutcher Drive.
From here, the occupants of the car had a good vantage point of the house where the murders took place.
So when their intended target drove down into Balbutcher Drive, the car followed it to the house and the gunman got out of the car and killed two people and injured two others.
Investigating gardaí are asking members of the public did they notice this car parked at this junction beside the building site on the day of the murder or indeed any other day.
Appeal
Following the shooting, the people involved left the Opel car and fled the scene on foot though bollards and the end of Balbutcher Drive and onto Cranogue Terrace.
A black Golf car with the registration number 06-LH-3466 was waiting for them here and drove them away.

It travelled across Ballymun in the direction of Ikea, on through the Northwood business, retail and housing development and on into Santry Close where it was set on fire.
Fox appealed for people with any information on the cars or any aspect of the crime to come forward.
“These cars were purchased in the weeks preceding the murders and had to have been parked up somewhere,” said Fox.
“I am asking members of the public to contact us if indeed they did see these cars parked up anywhere or even similar type cars.
“Parking spaces in apartment complexes, housing estates, and other parking areas are at a premium.
Was your parking spot or a neighbours blocked by either of these cars or similar cars or indeed any car for any length of time? Any information you may have, no matter how insignificant it might seem to be to you, could be very important to the investigation.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact them at:
