The prizes rolled over for a record number of draws before it was won last month.

Carol Boate told Lotto regulator staff in January that it was necessary to counteract false claims about the draw.

Regulator was concerned over 'inaccurate' comments in media and social media about the record-breaking rollover.

Spokesperson clarified to The Journal that additional money not added to the capped jackpot did not benefit the operator.
