FORMER RTÉ BROADCASTER Bill O’Herlihy says he doesn’t miss sport all that much, but said that he might do when the Champion’s League rolls in.
O’Herlihy, who currently holds the position as Chairperson of the Irish Film Board, was asked by TheJournal.ie yesterday if he missed his old job as a sports broadcaster.
He said:
Nah, not at this stage. I have no doubt that when it gets to the climactic stages of the Champion’s League and the Ireland matches that are going to be conclusive in terms of the European and World Cups, then I’ll miss it.
O’Herlihy was also complimentary to his replacement at RTÉ, Darragh Maloney.
Darragh is extremely good, he is better than me in so many different ways.
He admitted that he did miss his old partners in crime, Eamon Dunphy and Johnny Giles, saying that they are still very good friends of his.
When asked if he thought they would make a good subject for a movie, O’Herlihy said jokingly:
… Two of them are very special, they would make a good feature film … if somebody looks for a production, we might consider it…
