GARDAÍ HAVE SEIZED €150,000 worth of cannabis in Westmeath.
As part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in the Athlone area, gardaí today carried out a search of a rural dwelling at Moyvoughly, near Moate.
In a statement, gardaí said a highly sophisticated grow house was discovered during the search, which found cannabis plants in various stages of growth.
The plants have an estimated street value of €150,000.
Two women were arrested and are being detained at Athlone Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

This operation was led by the Athlone drugs unit, assisted by the Westmeath divisional Garda units and the national Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.
Gardaí said the operation used advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.
They also said the drug seizures targeted the livelihood of criminals, reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities, and protecting communities from the impact of criminality.
