TROUBADOUR CHRISTY MOORE paid a visit to the Occupy Dame St camp today – and promised to call back again soon.
A spokesperson for Occupy Dame St told TheJournal.ie that Moore visited the camp at the Central Bank Plaza at around 2pm today.
He just came into the camp, had a cup of tea and chatted with a few people. He was there for about 20 minutes and said he would be back in the future and would play a few songs.
It’s great to get the message out there that we’re here – it’s about people empowering themselves.
The spokesperson said that the mood at the plaza tonight is good, with a crowd of around 100 people assembled in the space, discussing a variety of issues.
At the weekend, the camp held a video link with camps in Pittsburgh and New York – and had some traditional musicians playing music with a fiddle that the Pittsburgh Occupy protestors had sent over.
Though the Occupy Portland and Occupy Oakland camps have been shut down in recent days by police, the mood at the Dublin camp remains positive.
“It’s a peaceful protest, and we will remain peaceful or else it’s gone,” said the spokesperson.
