Want to work in the civil service? New jobs being advertised from today
The civil service is looking to fill positions in the Departments of Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform in the coming months.
THE FOUR-YEAR LONG public sector recruitment moratorium is set to be loosened from today as advertisements for new graduate positions in the civil service go live.
The Public Appointments Service (PAS) has been tasked with recruiting in the region of 125 people to a panel of administrative officers – where graduates usually start in the civil service – with some 100 positions being drawn down from this.
The campaign goes live from today with a newspaper ad campaign as well as information being posted on social media and the Public Jobs website.
The PAS is looking for “specialist skill sets” with people who have studied economics, banking and finance, law, HR and tax policy all being targeted.
Most of the positions will be in the two economic departments – the Department of Finance and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform – but successful applicants could also be appointed to other departments and State offices over the next 12-18 months.
Anyone interested in the positions should register on the Public Jobs website for an interest in ‘graduate/trainee opportunities’.
A recruitment freeze has been in place in the public sector since 2009 except for exceptional and necessary positions. However An Garda Siochána recently announced it is to begin taking on new recruits later this year.
