1. Nic Antonio got 2,326 thumbs up for this comment on an article about Senator Michelle Mulherin, who accused the GAA of discrimination against senators after she couldn’t get a ticket to the All-Ireland final:

Plenty of hard working fans that attend everything from O’Byrne cup games to league games that can’t get a ticket either. She can stick that sense of entitlement.

2. On the same article, Mary Murphy got 1,259 green thumbs for this comment:

She went to one game and the last match??? Great supporter you are Michelle. Don’t put yourself out now. Delighted she got no ticket. She doesn’t deserve it

3. In what’s becoming something of a trend, the third most popular comment this week was – you’ve guessed it – also on the Michelle Mulherin article. Here’s Martin O’Rourke, who got 965 green thumbs for this:

She should have asked Pat Hickey!

On an article about the LÉ james Joyce rescuing almost 2,000 migrants earlier this week, the commenter Oonaghpoonagh asked the question we were all thinking:

Not sure what the EU’s plan is here on this? Like is this just going to roll on day after day with no solution other than sail around collecting boats full of refugees? Like do they have a limit or is this just the way it is now?

This was an interesting perspective from Rebecca De Stanleigh on car insurance and all the problems with it at the moment (a lot of people agreed with her – she got 569 thumbs up):

Was in an accident a few years ago where my friend was hit by an elderly man and both cars were wrought off. Nobody injured thank god but I did get a slight touch of whiplash and a bad bruise from the seat belt. Loads of people asked why I didn’t claim off the oul fella. Why would I? I was fine. The car would be replaced. The poor old man got enough of a fright without being slapped with a false injury claim. Karma is real lads. Don’t push your luck.

We love a good pun here, so we were very appreciative of this effort form Val Rossi on the article about how Leonardo DiCaprio wants people to spy on fisherman who are illegally fishing:

Britain BAFTA 2016 Film Awards Arrivals Joel Ryan / PA Joel Ryan / PA / PA

Ratting on someone just for the Halibut

We also enjoyed this one from Chris about how Google blurred out the face of a cow on Google Street View to protect its identity:

That cow is on a witness protection program . Very responsible of google to conceal the cows identity.

Ryan Kelly got a fair amount of thumbs up (413) for his comment on an opinion piece about a man who says he was fired from a bar for speaking Irish.

Should speak Irish as much as he wants! Obviously just not when people haven’t a clue what he’s saying. Is é ár dteanga náisiúnta!
